B*tch, Take Your Vacation… and Other Mental Health Advice

Truthfully, I am just writing this one for future me. ✌🏾It’s day two of our staycation and I am FEELING GREAT.


Usually, I am the “grab my passport” type of girl. But in an effort to save some money, we decided to take a week off without leaving town. No airports. No suitcases. Just a full reset from home. And honestly? I might be onto something here.


Get Back to Center


Sometimes you just can’t go full YOLO. As much as I’d love to all the time… Life, bills, and grown-up responsibilities have a way of bringing you right back down to earth. But here’s the thing…take your vacation anyway. 


Rest is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. Your brain and body need a reset. You can’t show up for your work, your people, or even yourself if you’re running on fumes.


How to Know You’re Ready for a Break


For me, the warning signs are pretty clear. I get short-tempered. I feel disconnected from my body. I start resenting small things. And, my nervous system is all over the place. That’s when I know it’s time for a break!


Sometimes your body tells you before your mind catches up. The headaches. The tight shoulders. The constant tiredness. Listen to those cues. They are not a sign of weakness. They are a signal that you need to step back.

Whether it is a week in Bali or two days hiding under your blanket watching Netflix, give yourself permission to take the break.

You are not lazy.


You are not falling behind. You are being human.
